Your Authority
Library

How you're designed to make decisions that are actually right for you.

Authority isn't your personality. It isn't your strengths. It's how your body and energy are designed to access truth. Most of us were never taught this. We were taught to think our way through decisions, ask other people, make pros and cons lists, and push through doubt.

What Is Authority?

The part of your design that already knows.

In Human Design, your Authority is your inner decision-making intelligence. It's the specific part of you — emotional, physical, intuitive, vocal — that has access to your deepest truth. Think of it as your built-in GPS. The problem is most of us have been navigating with the wrong map.

When you make decisions from your mind — from logic alone, from fear, from what you think you should want — you often end up somewhere that doesn't fit. Not because you made a "wrong" choice. But because you bypassed your actual decision-making center.

Learning your Authority isn't about becoming someone new. It's about returning to the part of you that always knew.

Your Authority is

The specific center in your chart where truth lives — emotionally, physically, intuitively, or vocally.

Your Authority is not

Your intellect. Your logic. Other people's opinions. Or the loudest voice in the room.

Learning it means

Understanding which inner signal to trust when a decision comes — and giving it the conditions it needs to work.

Why It Matters

How many decisions have you made that looked right on paper but felt wrong in your body?

The job that made sense on paper but drained you from day one. The relationship you stayed in because you'd already invested so much. The business offer you said yes to because someone else was excited about it. The opportunity you turned down because you couldn't logically justify saying yes — even though every part of you lit up.

Authority doesn't promise you'll never make a hard decision. But it does give you a more honest starting point — one that comes from your design rather than your conditioning, your people-pleasing, or your fear.

"Your Authority isn't something you have to learn to trust all at once. You practice it in small decisions first — what to eat, whether to take the call, how to spend your Sunday — until the signal becomes familiar enough that you can hear it when the big decisions come."
