Centers
The nine energy hubs that make up your Human Design chart.
There are nine Centers in the Human Design body graph, each corresponding to a different kind of energy or function: the Head (inspiration), Ajna (conceptualization), Throat (communication), G/Identity (direction and love), Will/Heart (willpower), Solar Plexus (emotion), Sacral (life force), Spleen (intuition), and Root (pressure/adrenaline).
What It Means
In plain English.
Why It Matters
Why you need to know this.
Your Centers show where you have consistent, reliable energy (defined) and where you take in and amplify energy from others (undefined or open). Understanding your Centers helps you understand your energy patterns, your decision-making, and why you show up differently in different environments.
What It Looks Like In Real Life
Recognizing it in your own life.
A woman with an undefined Emotional center realizes why she absorbs the moods of everyone around her — and why she needs alone time to discharge what she's picked up.
A woman with a defined Sacral understands why she has so much more energy than her Projector partner — and why their rest needs are genuinely different.
A woman with an open Head center stops thinking every inspired thought she has is meant to be her next project — she's picking up other people's inspiration, not necessarily her own.
Common Misunderstandings
What people get wrong.
- Undefined centers are not weaknesses. They are places of wisdom and sensitivity.
- Defined centers don't mean rigid — they mean consistent. You bring that energy reliably.
- No combination of centers is better than another. Every chart is complete.
